              Kerala E-Governance Awards 2011-2013 for “Best Website”                             Indira Priyadarshini Vriksha Mitra Award 2008
The IPVM Awards to the States and UTs 2008 for Small States having geographical area below 80, 000 sq. km. carrying a prize money of Rs. 5.00 lakhs with a scroll and citation has been won jointly by the States of Kerala and Goa for absolute and percentage increase in Forest & tree Cover respectively.
                               Indira Priyadarshini Vriksha Mitra Award 2007The IPVM Award, for the year 2007, has been awarded jointly to Department of Forests and Department of Education, Government of Kerala, Thiruananthpuram for their commendable works.Social Forestry Wing of Kerala Forests Department carries out afforestation works outside the forests area to achieve the target to bringing 33 percent of land area under forests. The Department launched massive afforestation programme called “Ente – Maram Paddhathi” (My Tree Programme) and implemented with the involvement of school children in close coordination with Education Department of Kerala. More than 20 lakhs seedling were planted on the occasion of World Environment Day by the students of more than 6000 schools in entire State on single day. The nominee has involved the local people in nursery raising and transportation of seedlings from the nurseries to the schools. The efforts have created massive environmental awareness among the people as well as substantial green wealth.These two departments education have set an example in motivating a large number of youth and demonstrated innovative and efficient method to achieve tangible result of greening the bare landscape.

Management Effectiveness Evaluation (MEE) of Tiger Reserves in India, 2022 (Fifth Cycle)

Periyar Tiger Reserve achieved the first place as a best managed Tiger Reserves in India in the evaluation of MEE with a score of 94.38%.


Vasanthasena- Manorama Pennoruma season 2 -2021 , State Level Winner in the second position

Vasanthasena of PTR bagged this achievement for their volunteer ship in conservation and community activities


Skal International Award 2019 – Community Based Ecotourism Programmes – Best Sustainable Tourism project

The Skal International (Spain) Sustainable Tourism Awards were launched in 2002 to spotlight best practices in terms of sustainable and responsible Tourism around the world, enhance the visibility and grant recognition to entities from the Tourism Industry. Periyar Tiger Reserve bagged the sustainable tourism award under Community & Government Projects for its Community Based Ecotourism Programmes.


Best managed Tiger Reserve 2018 – NTCA top score for Periyar Tiger Reserve in Management Effectiveness Evaluation (MEE)

Protected area management effectiveness evaluation is defined as the assessment of how well protected areas are being managed – primarily, whether they are protecting their values and achieving agreed goals and objectives. This year PTR got 97.3 marks in the MEE evaluation conducted by NTCA.


Periyar Tiger Reserve bagged NTCA Award for Excellence:2016 (In recognition of outstanding Performance in the field of Anti-Poaching)

The Periyar Tiger Reserve bagged the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) award for Excellence in performance in Anti-Poaching. The award was received by Dr. Amit Malick IFS, from Hon. Prime minister of India.


India International Travel Mart (IITM): Best Nature Destination of the Year – 2015

India International Travel Mart 2015 recognized PTR as the Best Nature Destination for its various Community Based Ecotourism Programmes.


Best Performing Eco Development Committee (EDC) for the year 2015: Vanchivayal EDC – Kananasangamam 2015

Vanchivayal EDC from Vallakadavu Range bagged the best performing EDC award for the year 2015 at the Kananasangamam 2015 for their overall commitment to the welfare of its members and to the PA


World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) -Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) 2014

BaghMitra Awards 2014 for outstanding contributions towards tiger conservation in India. Periyar Tiger Reserve bagged PATA Bagh Mitra Award in 2014 for over all contributions for Tiger Conservation in India.

Periyar got the Kerala State Biodiversity Award for the year 2013 for the contributions towards conservation of the Protected Area.


United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)– India Biodiversity Awards 2012 – Best Protected Area (PA) in the country

Recognizing the models of biodiversity governance, the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests, in collaboration with Government of India and United Nations Development Program (UNDP). PTR got the award in 2012 for the best protected Area in the country..


National Tiger Conservation Foundation (NTCA) Award for Excellence: 2012-14 (Co-occurrence and Eliciting Local Public support)

Periyar Tiger Reserve bagged the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) award for Excellence in Co-occurrence and Eliciting local public support.


David Shepherd Wildlife Award – 2008

The David Shepherd Conservation Award was launched in 2017 in memory of our Founder, David, to commend remarkable contributions to conservation. Periyar Tiger Reserve got the award for its conservation activities during 2008

Conservation Assured Tiger Standards (CA TS) in 2022

Periyar Tiger reserve was accredited by CA TS (Conservation Assured Tiger Standards), a worldwide accreditation standard for the conservation of tigers


Young Naturalist Award to Tribal Heritage EDC members- 2007

Aneesh from Tribal Heritage EDC received the young naturalist award for 2007 for his best performance as a natural guide for various Community Based Ecotourism activities.

SAAP EDC bagged the award for the year 1999 for their work in Sabarimala waste management
